Areas of Practice

I provide an integrated approach to therapy drawing upon a variety of modalities including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) and Person-Centered Therapy.

Below you will find reasons I often assist my clients with, but this list is not exhaustive. If you are curious about working together but do not see your concern listed, please get in touch to see if we might be a good fit.

Life Transitions

I am passionate about helping people navigate wanted and unwanted transitions. Some examples include role changes, grief and loss, illness, aging, or retirement and others. Transitions are tricky and come with many confusing feelings and adjustments - therapy can help create meaning and understanding to find resolution during these difficult times.

Chronic Conditions

Living with a chronic condition such as diabetes or chronic pain can be incredibly difficult and can have a serious impact on mental health. In addition to the daily physical demands of disease management which can be their own focus of therapy you may also feel burdened, isolated, and misunderstood by others.

Relationships

Relationship challenges are one of the most common issues to bring to therapy. While we often think of relationship issues with others, this may also be an issue of relating to self or community. Through compassionate exploration we can uncover patterns that are unhealthy and establish new patterns of relating to self, other, and community.

Trauma

Whether you call it trauma or not, difficult experiences in life can have a big influence on how we relate to others, even decades later.

Therapy helps individuals develop skills to manage emotional pain, discover and gain understanding for patterns present, and learn new ways of relating to experiences.

Processing trauma is very vulnerable and the pace of therapy is intentional with you as lead. We can discuss the process of working on trauma and how you want to engage with it. Some people ask to work more in the here and now space rather than going back to the experience and I am willing to discuss our options to create a shared treatment plan.

Anxiety & Depression

Anxiety and Depression are common reactions to life and may present in tandem or solo. Whichever is true for you we will work on tools to respond to your needs. Therapy helps individuals develop skills to manage emotional pain, discover and gain understanding for patterns present, and learn new ways of relating to experiences.
